Identity facts describe what SEWARD is and how it relates to a company, while brand promises describe the experience, priorities or conduct the brand presents to customers.
Identity answers who or what
An identity fact identifies a brand, company or relationship. SEWARD’s About page states that SEWARD is a knife brand under TOP KNIVES LLC and describes it as consumer-facing. It also identifies the collection as including folding knives, fixed blades and OTF designs. These statements concern organizational relationship, brand role and collection scope.
Identity wording should remain narrow. The statement that SEWARD is under TOP KNIVES LLC does not automatically establish who owns a trademark, who manufactured a particular knife or which legal seller appears in every transaction. Those questions require their own relevant records.
A brand promise answers what customers should expect
Expressions such as “Choose with Purpose” communicate an intended approach rather than a corporate identity. SEWARD encourages customers to begin with the task and setting, examine individual product details, understand operation and care, use knives responsibly, and seek clarification when an important detail is unclear. Its support language also tells customers how to submit product or order questions.
These are customer-facing commitments or guiding principles. They should be read according to their actual wording. An invitation to contact support, for example, establishes a route for questions; it does not silently create an unlimited service guarantee or a particular resolution.
Keep fact, aspiration and product detail separate
A useful reading test is to ask what kind of statement is being made. “SEWARD is a brand under TOP KNIVES LLC” is an identity statement. “Choose with Purpose” is a brand principle. A material, dimension or mechanism shown on an individual product page is a product-specific statement.
Keeping these categories separate prevents attractive brand language from becoming an unsupported legal, technical or performance claim. It also allows SEWARD’s positioning to remain expressive without making its company relationship or individual products mean more than the published words establish.
