How to Read Conflicting Dimensions in a Video and Written Specifications

Verify the product version, units, measurement endpoints, and product state before deciding whether two different dimensions truly conflict.

Do not choose a preferred number

When a dimension shown in a video differs from the written specification, neither value should be selected merely because it looks newer, more precise, or more attractive. Record both values as an unresolved conflict first. A useful comparison begins only after confirming that the video and text describe the same SKU, variant, and product version.

Normalize the measurement basis

Check the units and conversions, then identify the endpoints used for each measurement. Two labels that sound similar may cover different spans. Also confirm the product state: open or closed, assembled or unassembled, and with or without any removable component. Camera perspective and an on-screen ruler can illustrate a measurement, but the video frame alone may not reveal exact endpoints or measurement conditions.

Next, look for a publication date, revision marker, caption, or referenced specification record. A later date can help trace a change, but it does not automatically prove that one value replaced another. Small differences may reflect rounding or measurement uncertainty; larger or structurally different values may indicate another version or measurement definition. The cause should be documented rather than guessed.

Use the conflict responsibly

Until the discrepancy is resolved, present both figures with their respective sources and conditions. Do not convert one into a selection conclusion, compatibility assurance, or performance claim. Confirmation should identify the current SKU, authoritative value, units, endpoints, product state, and applicable version.

SEWARD’s Terms of Service advises checking dimensions and selected options on the individual product page and asking about the specific product when information is inconsistent or unclear. That supports a version-specific resolution: the goal is not to decide whether video or text is generally superior, but to determine which documented measurement belongs to the exact item under consideration.
