What Evidence Should You Keep If a Parcel Appears to Have Been Resealed?

How to document unusual seals, preserve the packaging, and report a possibly resealed SEWARD parcel without drawing unsupported conclusions.

Record the parcel before changing it

If a parcel appears to have been resealed, photograph its overall condition before removing more tape or opening it further. Capture every side of the outer package, the shipping label, and each sealing point. Take closer photographs showing overlapping tape, cut lines, lifted edges, mismatched materials, or labels covered by another layer. Keep the original image files because their full framing and file information may help establish the sequence of your record.

Preserve the connection to the order

Keep the outer packaging, tape, labels, internal packing materials, and received contents together while the issue is being reviewed. Note when and where you received the parcel, what first drew your attention, whether it was already open, and what you observed during opening. Compare the parcel and contents with the shipment and order details. SEWARD’s Shipping and Delivery page specifically advises customers to compare a parcel with its shipment details and retain the packaging when something needs checking.

Report observations, not conclusions

An unusual seal can support a request for investigation, but appearance alone does not establish who opened or resealed a parcel. Describe visible facts without accusing the seller, carrier, customs authority, or another party. For a SEWARD order, contact Customer Service through the channel listed on the Contact Us page and include the order number and the email used at checkout. The contact form accepts an optional JPG or PNG photograph of up to 5 MB. Ask whether additional photographs or carrier records are required, and contact SEWARD before returning anything. If the order came from a third-party seller, use that seller’s process because SEWARD’s standard arrangements do not automatically govern another seller.
