How to Verify a Request for Additional Customs Information

A safe way to confirm whether a customs-information notice concerning a SEWARD order comes through a genuine channel.

Match the notice to the shipment

A message that mentions customs is not automatically genuine. First compare its tracking number, destination, recipient details, and stated carrier with the shipment information attached to your SEWARD order. Check the parcel’s current status through the carrier’s independently located official website or app rather than through a link in the message.

Look for inconsistencies such as an unrelated order number, a different destination, an unfamiliar sender domain, or an urgent request that cannot be matched to the shipment. A tracking status can confirm that a parcel is in a customs stage, but it does not by itself authenticate every email, text message, attachment, or payment link claiming to relate to that parcel.

Confirm through an independent channel

Open the carrier’s official contact page yourself and ask whether the reference number and requested documents are genuine. For a SEWARD order, also use SEWARD’s official Contact Us page or the contact route recorded with the order. Include the order number and the email used at checkout so the inquiry can be matched correctly.

SEWARD’s Shipping & Delivery page specifically says that a separate payment request from a carrier or customs should be referred to SEWARD for verification and handling. Do not pay first and seek confirmation afterward. A real customs delay may require attention, but urgency does not replace authentication.

Share only what is necessary

Ask the verified recipient which exact information is required, why it is needed, and where it must be submitted. Use only the independently confirmed portal or address. Do not upload identity documents through an unknown link, and never send a full card number, security code, banking password, or one-time verification code by email, chat, or a contact form.

Keep a copy of the notice and your verification exchange. If the carrier and SEWARD records do not agree, pause and ask both parties to clarify the discrepancy before disclosing information or making a payment.
